If you have made a PPI claim that was not successful, only received a partial PPI or Plevin refund, or your claim for Plevin has been rejected, we can help you. Plevin is a claim made against lenders for the commission charged on PPI premiums. In many cases, these commissions were not disclosed to the consumer, and often accounted for more than 50% of the total insurance premium.

In 2014 The Supreme Court ruled that failure to disclose large commission payments created an unfair relationship between the lender and the borrower. It was argued that, if the customer had been aware of the high percentage of commissions being paid to the lender, they may not have entered into the agreement. Following this, the FCA’s guidelines allowed for consumers to claim back any commissions that amounted to over 50% of the insurance premium. Plevin v Paragon Personal Finance Limited [2014] set a precedent, which has led to thousands of customers receiving compensation for their previously rejected PPI claims; as well as allowing customers who missed the opportunity to make a PPI claim to recover those commissions.

A further ruling held that individuals should be entitled to a full refund of the insurance premiums where commissions have not been disclosed. This has increased the value of Plevin claims as well as allowing individuals who were previously awarded partial refunds to make a further claim for the unrecovered premiums. Central Chambers Law assess each account to establish where compensation is due and can help clients recover the full value of their PPI premiums.
