Duty Solicitor

The Candidate

High levels of professionalism and confidence in managing an independent caseload are required. Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Duty Solicitor Status.
  • Police Station Accreditation Status.
  • Attention to detail in reviewing and preparing documentation.
  • Proficiency in IT and Case Management software.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Adherence to high standards of client care and interpersonal communication.

The Role

Covering all aspects of criminal law, including legally aided and privately funded work, responsibilities include:

  • Conducting interviews and taking instructions on criminal allegations.
  • Performing legal research and advising on points of law and practice.
  • Attending the Police Station to provide advice and assistance.
  • Representing clients in the Magistrates' Court.
  • Managing Crown Court litigation and instructing Counsel.
  • Drafting letters and legal documents.
  • Performing necessary administrative duties.
