Charges
The defendant faces three counts:
- Threatening a Person with an Offensive Weapon in a Private Place
- Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm
- Taking a Conveyance without Authority
These charges arise from the wider police investigation. The case is awaiting formal plea entry at the Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing.
Situation
Police executed a Section 8 PACE warrant at a co-defendant's address and discovered a cannabis drug line. Officers seized the co-defendant's personal phone. Analysis revealed messages allegedly between the co-defendant and the defendant concerning cannabis supply and facilitation of drug transport into the UK. The investigation alleges this facilitation involved the exploitation of under-18s. Historic call data and phone downloads are being used to suggest both defendants arranged transport of individuals carrying large quantities of drugs.
Approach
The defence team, led by solicitor Fosia Jury, is providing legal representation. The role involves detailed analysis of prosecution evidence, including phone downloads, call data, and warrant material. The client is being advised on the charges and the legal issues arising from the investigation. The case is being prepared for the Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing in close coordination with specialist counsel from Kenworthy Chambers.
Outcome
The case is awaiting a Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing (PTPH) at Manchester Crown Square Crown Court. No pleas have been formally entered. The outcome will be determined as the case progresses through the court system.
