Possession of Class A Drugs

Understand Your Situation

Possession of Class A drugs is a serious offence that can result in prison time and a permanent criminal record. We challenge the police procedure to protect you.

Defending Against Class A Possession Charges

Being caught with Class A drugs like Cocaine, Heroin, MDMA, or LSD is not a minor issue. Even for small amounts, the long-term impact of a conviction on travel and employment is severe. Our team intervenes early to examine the circumstances of the arrest.

We scrutinise the legality of the stop and search. If the police did not follow the correct codes of practice, the evidence against you could be inadmissible. We also explore out-of-court disposals or community resolutions for first-time offenders to keep your record clean.

Plan Your Defence

Legal Classification: Class A

Under the *Misuse of Drugs Act 1971*, Class A substances are treated with the utmost severity. Possession carries a maximum of 7 years imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine.

The prosecution must prove you had 'knowledge' and 'control' of the substance. If you were unaware of the drugs (e.g., they were left in your car by someone else), we can argue a defence of lack of knowledge. We also verify the substance analysis; if the forensic report is inconclusive, the charge cannot stand.

Legal Aid Availability

For many criminal matters, from police station interviews to Crown Court trials, public funding (Legal Aid) may be available to cover your legal costs.

Eligibility is determined by the seriousness of the case and, in some instances, a means assessment. Our team will conduct an immediate, confidential assessment of your eligibility to ensure that financial constraints do not stand in the way of a robust defence.
